Taking a break

I took a break from rosemaling to knit this sweater. Actually, I started it four years ago and decided it was about time to get it done. It's a little too warm to wear it today, but it should be nice when the temperature dips.

Red rim

I finished the center design and painted the rim red. While I wait for the paint to dry, I'll decide what design to paint on the outside edges.

More flowers

I had fun yesterday painting more flowers. They look a little scattered now, but once I paint the stems and leaves, it should all come together.

The center flower

This is the main, center flower. I still have more flowers and leaves to paint, and then a boarder around the outside.

And now a tray

I've just started a black tray, in a symmetrical Os pattern. There will be a large round center flower and "roses" to the left and right. Then there are tulips and leaves. I'll put a design around the sides, as well.

A red plate

Here's the finished plate. I enjoy choosing flowers when I paint in the Valdres style. It's like picking flowers from the garden.

Progressing

The plate is filling in. I'll have to do some more line work in the center, and then decorate the rim.

A new beginning

I've started a new plate. After creating the design and transferring it to the plate, I had to decide which leaves and flowers were behind the others. The ones in the back get painted first.
