Mitten box

Here's the completed box. Now I have a place for my mittens, but I don't have a place for the box.

The happy rosemaler

Here I am on the last day of class. This has been a great week with lots of painting and lots of learning. The mitten bowl will be finished after I get home, and then it's on to other projects.

Making progress

Here is the mitten box, so far. I have one more day to work on it in Decorah, and then I'll finish it at home.

Day three

Each flower is a new challenge. These are all new to me and I enjoy working on them. I think I need a little more practice.

Here's the mitten box at the end of day three. There's lots of work left.

Old rosemaling

Today we went to the Versterheim Museum to see rosemaling from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

These items are a real inspiration for today's painters.

I take as many pictures as I can so I can use them when I plan future projects.

Practice, practice, practice

We spent the first day of our class practicing flowers we will be needing for the mitten bowl and other projects. I left some of the petals on the rose unfinished so I can remember how they are painted.

The tulip was easy, but is so pretty.

Ready to go!

I'm all packed up for Decorah, Iowa. I'll be taking a class in the Valdres style of rosemaling from Pam R. She's a delightful person and a beautiful artist.

Here's the mitten bowl I'll be painting. I cant wait to see what design Pam has created for us.

Done!

This is the first plate I've done in my new workshop. It was great fun to do. This little garden is interesting, but I don't think these flowers would actually be growing together.

This tulip, called a Parrot Tulip, is always a challenge, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.
